Chapter Efforts
Engineering Futures
Through the National Organization, we are able to organize and host Engineering Futures sessions periodically. Futures are workshops about various non-technical, "soft" skills that engineers are often lacking. Subjects include: People Skills, Team Chartering, Group Process, Analytical Problem Solving, and Effective Presentation Skills. Look out for details about future sessions on the college listserv!
University of Cincinnati E-Week
The College of Engineering and Applied Science Tribunal hosts a week of competition between different student groups during National Engineering Week. The Ohio Beta Chapter has hosted a team to compete, and we often host an event. In 2014, we hosted a Dance Dance Revolution competition as well as a canned food drive.
Shine the Bent
Once a year, the chapter gets together to polish and shine the Tau Beta Pi Bent at the front left of the entrance to Baldwin Hall. The Bent is dedicated to Dr. Herman Schneider at the 56th National Convention in 1961 and we take of keeping it in good shape. If you see some engineers putting in some elbow grease, say hello because it's probably us!
Social Events
Every semester the chapter looks to organize at least one social event for members to attend at a discounted cost or free of charge. Events in the recent past include cookouts, Cincinnati Cyclones games, and Cincinnati Reds games. Contact us if you're interested in attending or have a great idea for a social event in the future!
